Hightower recorded three tackles and a fumble recovery on kickoff coverage in his very first game, a home contest against Texas Tech. Brown finally obliged during Hightower's redshirt freshman season in 1999. Brown remembers Hightower relentlessly pining coaches for a chance to play on special teams. He believed he could be a difference maker on gamedays. Traveling was a feather in the cap for a walk-on, but Hightower wanted more. Brown reiterated to every walk-on that if they could impress the coaching staff on the scout team, then they'd be given the opportunity to travel to road games. His job was to give the starters the best look possible during each week of preparation. He worked his tail off as a scout team receiver. But Hightower wouldn't be denied, because winners never quit, and quitters never win. He quickly recognized he wouldn't have a future as a wideout, either. Hightower flamed out at safety before moving to the receiver's room. "He was way undersized, and he didn't have great speed," recalled former Texas head coach Mack Brown. When it came time to pick a university, Hightower decided he not only wanted to attend Texas, but he was adamant about playing football for the Longhorns. "We would watch it, and then we'd play catch during commercials. Hightower and his father would watch together as a weekly tradition. "Monday Night Football" was another source of fond memories. spent years in and out of jobs but continuously found a way to compartmentalize his own struggles in order to keep an unwavering role in his son's life. He played baseball, basketball and football, and his father was always in attendance. The lessons in structure, responsibility, accountability, teamwork and dedication made sports a foundational piece in Hightower's childhood. Evidently neither kid had an issue there.įinally, and this served as the root of Hightower's bond with his father, was an emphasis on athletics. On the other hand, a quitter lives most of his life in regret because of his lack of motivation and dedication. The second was a dedication to academics. Success only knocks on the doors of winners because they are determined in life. Never keep the fear of failure inside your self. And the one who is ready to take all these challenges is always a winner. It's very easy to give up any thing in the midway but very difficult to continue till the end despite of hurdles & challenges. Sir Sachin Tendulkar was also a school drop out. They strived hard to reach their goals and only rested when success touched their feet. Even scientists like Issac Newton and Albert Einstein never gave up pursuing their dreams and interests just because some of their experiments failed. Most of us are not born with talent and skills. We quit our job, quit our relationship, quit our studies and so on. We start behaving insane after every failure. But is the way that to win? Definitely not.!! By loosing hope we closes all the doors from where success actually arrives. We always loose hope when we loose something or we fail to complete any task. Because he is not determined to face the difficulties, he never reaches his goal and is declared a quitter. On the other hand, a quitter gets perturbed by challenges, and in the midst, gives up. A winner is ready to face challenges and obstacles that may come in between him and his goals. because failure teaches us the most.Ī winner is someone who is determined to reach his goals, no matter how arduous the journey may be. It's perfectly fine if we achieve failure at any moment. Then why do we run behind success after we grow up.? Why do we need to prove our self every time. We just did what we liked because we didn't had to prove anything to others at that time. It starts from the kinder garden school where we struggle hard to get a front seat, a toy, a chocolate or a good friend where we were not always successful. In our life we struggle really very hard to be successful in all the stages of our lives. We all humans are like that ant who tries hard to get our platter of success. In the initial phase she achieves failure, but at the end of the day she is at her point. She tries hard to collect her food, to build her house, to climb a big wall which is definitely not a easy task for that little being. She always tries hard to achieve her goal but is not always successful. An Ant is the best example to prove this proverb.
